Data Freshness

Short definition

How old a lead record is, expressed in ageing bands that keep moving, so a list bought six months ago never presents as new work.

01In practice

How teams actually use it.

Freshness is the difference between a lead that arrived this morning and one that was collected eight months ago and imported today. On import they look identical, and that is precisely the failure that makes bought lists disappointing: the contact has no memory of the enquiry, has often changed roles, and treats the call as an intrusion rather than a follow-up. Leadkaun bands every lead by age and keeps ageing it, so the distinction stays visible in the queue instead of being discovered one call at a time. Where the original collection date is unknown, the band is inferred from the import date and flagged as inferred, an honest approximation rather than false precision. Measuring connect rate by freshness band is usually the fastest way to find out whether a list purchase was worth it.

02Worked examples

Three ways it shows up.

  • 01

A list collected six months before import starts in a late band, so reps calibrate rather than assume it is warm.

  • 02

Connect rate by band turns a list-buying decision into evidence instead of a hunch.

03Check it yourself

How to tell where you actually stand.

Old data does not announce itself as old.

  1. 01Sort your lead list by when the record was last touched by anything other than a bulk update.
  2. 02Look at the oldest quarter.
  3. 03Decide honestly whether you would still call those numbers today; if not, they are inflating every count you report.
